What I have learned as a Mama 2nd Edition November 3, 2009
- Daylight savings time is your enemy! It will mess up any sleep schedule you have going on.
- Elizabeth really means to sleep until 9 but she gets hungry at 7:30. I really need to get a bottle ready (minus the water) each night so I don’t have to walk down stairs in the morning.
- Ellie can take big girl baths. Apparently she has been doing this for over a month and I had no idea. It makes bath time much easier
- Babies love cereal! They are entertained for minutes (I wish an hour) on end, picking up cereal and putting them in their mouths.
- Pushing chairs around the kitchen is more fun than any toy.
- Ellie does NOT like getting her hair trimmed. Daddy doesn’t like Ellie getting her hair trimmed. I cut off her alfalfa hair. She had a 2 1/2 inch long chuck of hair on the back of her head. The rest of her hair is 3/4 inches long.
- Every type of baby food is messy.
The cutest turtle on the planet November 1, 2009
We got Ellie’s turtle costume over a month ago at Costco. We chose a turtle because she is crawling and turtles walk on all fours. 
Next year she can wear a dress because she will be walking.
Happy Halloween November 1, 2009
We had a lot of fun celebrating halloween this year. We carved pumpkins on thursday night. I did a simple ghost. We got a small pumpkin and wrote Elizabeth on the top and on the front we wrote first halloween. We saw the coolest pumpkins carved this year. If there is some sort of pumpkin carving class I totally want to take one next year to learn how to carve something really cool.

Here are a few things I have forgotten to blog about that happened in the past month.
- Ellie’s fourth tooth finally popped through, after much anticipation. Not only did it pop through it has started to come down a lot.
- Ellie has rounded teeth like mine, not square like Dale’s. Yes, it’s only her baby teeth so we really won’t know the true shape of her teeth until she is 5ish. I know teeth shape isn’t much, but I need to recognize the few genes that Ellie has of mine.
- Ellie really loves her shopping cart. She can go shopping like Mama does.
- I love the cold weather we had today. We wore long sleeves and pants So nice.
- Snow White came out on dvd, Mulan is still Ellie’s favorite.
- I bought Mulan II the other day, Ellie liked it just as much as Mulan.
- I would really like to find Mulan birthday decorations for her.
- Ellie can climb up stairs ( I was curious.)
- I let Ellie sleep with blankets now. Someone told me that if Ellie can stand up in her crib, she could take a blanket of her face
- Ellie eats Graduates Lil’ Crunchies. They’re her little girl cheetos, she really likes them.
- Ellie got a new play pen that is green with brown elephants on it.
- Ellie’s sleep has been really bad for the past few weeks. If I am in a bad mood, it’s most likely the lack of sleep
Rainy Days October 13, 2009
Oh how I love rainy days! Finally! Thank goodness. Ellie is going through another sleep regression. Apparently an 8 month sleep regression is common. She has been waking up in the middle of the night hungry and ready to hang out. It’s totally different than when she was a baby. When she was a baby she would wake up every 3-4 hours but only for 20 minutes. The past few nights Ellie has wanted to hang out and play for a few hours. I try to make it as boring as possible, so she will want to go back to sleep. Hopefully tonight will be the third and final night! I don’t want to have to go through more nights of this. If you feel bored tonight at 3am it’s pretty much guaranteed I will be up so chat me on facebook. Lol.
In other news, Ellie has gotten really good at clapping her hands. She loves clapping them and loves when people clap back at her. She has also learned the pincer grip with her left hand only. Not her right hand so much. She can pass a small object back and forth between her two hands.
She still can’t eat carrots or sweet potatoes. So she is pretty much going to eat simple and plain foods. Almost all of stage 2 and stage 3 baby food has either carrots or sweet potatoes in them. I gave Ellie a squash and corn combination and she seems to be doing good. So hopefully she won’t be throwing them up tomorrow.
